SIERRA CLUB PUBLICIST

The Sierra Club – America's oldest, largest, and most influential
grassroots environmental organization – is looking to hire a Publicist to
help promote the organization's conservation heroes and everyday solutions
for protecting our air, water, and special places.

As part of the Sierra Club's media team, the Publicist plays a key role in
branding of the Sierra Club and its work.  The position is responsible for
developing, coordinating and implementing strategies to promote the Sierra
Club's activities in mainstream media, including magazines, on television,
and other outlets. In addition to finding, developing and pitching stories
that advance the organization's conservation mission, the Publicist also
coordinates and implements external communication strategies for projects
involving Sierra Club Books, Sierra Club Productions, Sierra Magazine,
Sierra Club Outings, Sierra Club Licensing, among others.

The position is located at the Sierra Club's National Headquarters in
downtown San Francisco and reports to the National Press Secretary.  The
salary will vary depending on experience.

Key qualifications include:

-- 2-3 years of demonstrated success in media relations, journalism, public
outreach or related field;

-- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated
professional writing experience in a high-visibility environment.


-- Knowledge of and experience with the workings of media, the needs of
journalists, and how to get stories placed.


-- Familiarity with and commitment to environmental issues and grassroots
organizations.
