Some good stuff in here. Might be of interest to "socialites". I liked
the piece by the returning Iraq vet.

Hello hello,
I am pleased to announce the birth of a new magazine, SMITH
(http://smithmag.us), for your reading pleasure. A few folks and I have
been working on this in fits and starts for several years now and we are
thrilled to launch today, January 6.
Why January 6?
To celebrate National Smith Day
<http://www.press-citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060106/NEWS01/601060313&SearchID=73231720527911>,
of course. This day honors Captain John Smith (b. Jan. 6, 1580) and
naturally that early 19th-century explorer Jedediah Smith (b. Jan 6, 1799).
Why SMITH magazine?
SMITH magazine is about exploring the personal stories that inform our
collective cultural narrative. Everything from bloggers to the almost
famous (both of which often overlap), from lotto winners to local
characters. It's about framing our personal stories and perspectives so
that they resonate in a larger context. It's about being a uniter, not a
divider. Everyone has a story. And everyone deserves a place to tell it.
SMITH is also going to be a lot of fun. We're starting with an online
Web zine, and will be moving into print soon (designed by magazine
legend Robert Priest). A lot of what we do requires reader feedback, and
not lame polls either, but features that are wholly comprised of
readers' stories. So drop on by when you have some time, and share a
tasty anecdote with us. We'll publish it, because that's what we do.
At Smithmag.us <http://Smithmag.us> you'll find--
