Chuck and I went to Destiny Arts' current show yesterday, and I very
strongly recommend everyone attend one of next weekend's performances if you
can. Yesterday's performance was the third show I've seen by this great
organization, and it was every bit as uplifting and inspiring as the
previous events. Combining dance, theatre, spoken word & poetry, hip hop,
world music, and film, this troupe of very talented kids (some looked as
young as 9 or 10) writes, choreographs, and performs shows twice a year. Do
not miss this chance to see a great show and support a wonderful
organization.

 

DANGEROUS BEAUTY AT DESTINY ARTS 

Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company presents "Dangerous Beauty," a new
dance/theater production featuring hip-hop, modern, jazz and aerial dance,
martial arts, spoken word, poetry, theater, and song addressing issues from
gun violence to global warming, and the will to make meaningful change.
Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts, 1428 Alice St., Oakland (near
14th). $12-20 sliding scale. $6/18 and under. For information call

Destiny Arts provides movement-arts education & violence-prevention training
for youth ages 3-18. In Oakland's multicultural community, youth come
together to learn and challenge each other in an atmosphere of love &
inspiration.
