Researching Sea Turtles
WITH GUEST SPEAKER
Scott Benson

Join Scott Benson for a presentation on his work researching sea  
turtles on the California coast. Benson is a marine ecologist with  
extensive at-sea research experience throughout the world's oceans.  
Stationed at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, he is co-investigator  
of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA)  
leatherback sea turtle ecology program and coordinates research on  
leatherbacks in central California and the Western Pacific.

FRIDAY: Lost Landscapes of San Francisco

Rick Prelinger is a guerrilla archivist who collects the uncollected  
and makes it accessible. Prelinger will be presenting his third annual  
"Lost Landscapes of San Francisco" event, a montage of lost and rarely- 
seen film clips showing life, landscapes and labor in a vanished San  
Francisco as captured by amateurs, newsreel cameramen and industrial  
filmmakers.
"Lost Landscapes of San Francisco," Rick Prelinger, Cowell Theater,  
Fort Mason, San Francisco, Theater doors open at 7pm, Friday, December  
19.  The talk starts promptly at 7:30pm.  Admission is free (a $10  
donation is always welcome, not required).
We encourage the audience to interact with the film, especially to  
identify mystery scenes! After the event will be a reception and  
holiday party at The Long Now Museum and Store. The Prelingers, Long  
Now's staff and board will be on hand, and we plan to continue to  
project footage from the Prelinger Archive on every surface we can.  
There will be some light snacks and wine served.
