SOCIAL: politics is a filthy business

I'll address "marriage with goats"...Humans and goats are not demanding a right to marry, so that argument is moot until they do (and until goats can verifiably give consent).

Peace,

What cracks me up is how many of these lawmakers are in horrible, confining, life choking, bowel-churning, excruciating, and unhappy marriages!  Then they turn around and say they want to defend the sanctity of it all.  Huh... you mean like how Senator Larry Craig defended his marriage in the men's restroom?  Or how Eliot Spitzer defended the sanctity of marriage as he BONKED A HOOKER? (no offense to prostitutes).

Marriage has become this weird holy grail or maybe windmill?  Marriage isn't easy, and here are some people that love each other enough to give it a shot.  Stop getting in the way!  It's hard enough already.  Give two people some slack!  Are people really convinced that marriage as an institution has feelings and needs to be protected?  Marriage will be fine, I promise!

Perhaps.  If you are in an unhappy marriage and aren't allowed to admit it because your public persona requires perfection (Hence the $600.00 haircuts, thankyouverymuch Mr. Edwards) Maybe then these fragile truces within mansions (otherwise known as D.C. marriages) require the force of law so that the illusion can be maintained.  Narcissists.

I'm not even touching the whole "marriage with goats" argument against gay marriage.

Wuh.  Hope everyone had a great historic voting day!

I fully agree its disgusting, but its the price we pay for the

That said, it seems to me no Democratic politician thinking

Sadly, it still constitutes political suicide.

I wish the No folks had also bought ads for the last few days...

I'm personally appalled...and yet I don't know that

I really expected anything better.

So I went to the "Yes on 8" website the other

day, i sometimes like to read up on what the other side is

saying.  i was on the site for less than a minute -

couldn't stomach the dribble I'd gotten myself into

- but since then I've been getting "yes on 8"

popup ads in yahoo and when I go online, ugh.  as if that

wasn't enough - today's popup had a picture of both

mccain and obama saying "at least they agree on

something" and "marriage is between a man and a

woman" as if obama supports the prop.  if you click

the ad it goes to a page stating that all candidates and

their running mates agree - with pics of palin, mccain,

obama and biden and quotes from all 4.  of course

they're only bending the truth because technically they

are saying they all define marriage as between a man and a

woman...more ugh...but on election day they are implying -

heavily - that the obama-biden ticket endorses their

measure. ugh, ugh, UGH!

the really sad thing is the quote from Biden, I'm

guessing was said in opposition to measures like Prop 8

"Neither Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a

civil side what constitutes marriage. We do not support

that."

here's the ugliness:

I guess there's far worse out there, but i still think

this sucks!

I already called and reported it to the obama folks, but if

any of you guys are online and want the screen captures let

me know and I'll send them along.

gobama!

no on 8!

yay for Tom!!!

and a big woo-hoo for all of you out there fighting the

good fight to get out the vote and be active in our

political process!

cheers,

G
