The San Francisco NATURAL HISTORY SERIES
presents

INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF THE BAY AREA
WITH GUEST SPEAKER
Jose Rivera

Our lush local environment made the Bay Area one of the most densely
populated places in the state prior to Portola's "discovery" of San
Francisco Bay in 1769. Speaker José Rivera will explain how the
earliest people living here enjoyed and managed this environment for
their own benefit.
An American Indian scholar and retired State Park Ranger, Rivera has
served as education director of the Marin Museum of the American
Indian and currently works for the National Parks at Alkatraz Island.
