Hi Erin,
A couple of points on your concerns:
you noted:
3. WiFi reception seems to be wonky. It says it has a strong signal at home,
but then won't connect to ITunes because there's no WiFi. Thus I haven't
been able to download my address book from my PC, which can only be done
thru ITunes somehow. So this important feature is completely unavailable to
me.
The iTunes connecting to wifi refers to the ability to purchase songs over
the air. If you want to connect to iTunes on your PC, you need to attach
your PC to the phone with the cable and that will sync your songs as well as
possibly your mail settings.
5. I still haven't figured out how to set up smtp, so I can't send any mail.
The settings I use on my computers aren't working, and I haven't had time to
try to figure out why.
Mine came preset with an AT&T smtp server and the mail sync added the SMTP
server for my local connection. You might want to try turning wifi off and
seeing if you can send mail via the AT&T smtp server and then add another
SMTP server for when you are on you own local wifi connection.
6. Not all web tools are available when browsing on this device. I tried to
listen to a radio station online and wasn't able to. Could be a safari
issue, not sure. Would be nice if another browser were an option since a lot
of websites don't support safari.
The iPhone currently doesn't support flash or any media player other than
Quicktime. The radio station in question might be broadcasting in some
other format.
