I would encourage anyone who might undergo a major operation or who has a life impacting diagnosis to seek a second opinion.

I had major jaw surgery early this year and the surgeon who diagnosed me was very accomodating with his time and information so that the other doctor could give an informed second opinion.  recognizing a client's need for a second opinion is the mark of a well-balanced and experienced doctor.
