SOCIAL: Chinese take-out

I miss Yum-Yum, too. I used to order delivery from them so often when I lived in the Mission always asking for no onions in my food that they dubbed me "No Onion Lady" until I got on a first name basis with their delivery guys. Since then, I occassionally eat at Red Jade on Church. They also deliver, which is nice, and usually include free sesame balls and pork buns if you lean that way. Their Kung Pow Tofu is decent, but Yum-Yum ruined me for tasty affordable Chinese. Kathe

yeah, i had the conversation with the lantern place.  they were owned by the same people, and in fact when yum yum closed, i called them once and ended up reaching lantern.  so in theory it's the same place....

I had heard the same big lantern is where the yum yum chef landed, but I've been there twice and taken out and its WAY not as good, plus missing my faves (combo hong kong noodle,  five spice chicken, spicy eggplant...)

Sadness ensues... Please to anyone who discovers the next good place for chinese food in the hood, please please please post it. I haven't found it yet...

It may not exist yet...but I'll keep looking

Meep!

I really miss yum-yum, their kung pow tofu was the best I've had.

We go over to Big Lantern which has a better fake meat selection, but

their kung pow isn't as good.

I had heard that they were the same people as Yum-Yum.
