SOCIAL: knee surgery

Hello Socialites

After seeing an orthopedic doctor yesterday it appears I may have a meniscus
tear in my left knee and she recommends surgery (after confirmation of a
tear with an MRI).
Have any of you had this problem? Did you get surgery? Do you recommend
surgery? Do you know of any other options for a meniscus tear besides
surgery? If any of you have had the surgery how was the recovery time? How
long did you have to stop doing regular activity or exercising?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to gather information and
educate myself before I make any decisions. Any advice or information would
be appreciated.
