DEAR SOCIALITES!

HERE IS THE MOST AMBITIOUS PARTY IDEA I HAVE EVER TRIED AND I NEED  
YOUR HELP.

DO NOT FWD THIS YET (wait for the real invite - this is a draft)

I've been thinking about this for weeks but have been hesitating  
(mostly because I didn't know if my Halloween costume was gonna work  
out) - but screw all that.  Let's start this - let's take back  
Halloween in San Francisco!

Can you proofread this and help me make it smaller/better/faster/ 
tighter.  This is the fresh off-the-top-of-my-head draft, but I have  
sat on it long enough and need to get the ball rolling ASAP.

Also:

1) Do you know any mobile DJs?
2) How can I enhance the fun/positive aspect - do you like my cute/ 
lame/silly/awesome SMILEY FACE idea?
3) Will you come?

I HOPE TO SEND THIS OUT TONIGHT OR TOMORROW. WHEN I DO PLEASE FORWARD  
IT FAR AND WIDE!

This is obviously a big experiment & is fraught with risk (the least  
of which is small attendance).  But I think it's time.....

Thoughts? Help? Advice? LOGO?  I'm thinking a disco ball with a jack-o- 
lantern on it!? (HINT HINT ADRIAN)

HEY EVERYBODY WHO LOVES HALLOWEEN SAN FRANCISCO

Let's take back Halloween with a big costume / dance party at the  
Embarcadero starting at the Ferry Building and going all the way to  
the Bay Bridge!

WHERE: EMBARCADERO from Ferry Building to the Bay Bridge!

WHEN: SATURDAY, OCT. 31st 9PM

HOW:
1) If you have a costume wear it - COSTUMES HIGHLY ENCOURAGED
2) If you have a mobile DJ set up or a music bike or a band or hell a  
boombox - BRING IT (IF YOU KNOW A MOBILE DJ GET THEM TO COME! WE HAVE  
2 for sure!)
3) SOMEWHERE ON YOUR COSTUME, PUT A BIG YELLOW SMILEY FACE
4) HELP to clean up after yourself (and others)
5) IF YOU SEE ANYONE BEING A JERK, SMILE AT THEM AND THANK THEM FOR  
COMING TO HALLOWEEN!



DETAILS:
A lot of us are heartbroken that Halloween in the Castro was killed  
off - sure there were things that sucked about it, and sure it had  
gotten to the point that there were too many gawkers and not as many  
awesome costumes - but the way to deal with these problems was to fix  
it and work with it, NOT KILL IT.  Halloween in the Castro was  
inspiring, hysterical, brilliant and essential too.  For years and  
years it was one of the highlights of being a a San Franciscan....

So what to do - let's TAKE IT BACK AND FIX IT AT THE SAME TIME!!!!

TAKE IT BACK: Let's make a NEW San Francisco Halloween scene!
FIX IT: Let's make it better - promote COSTUMES & promote a FUN vibe  
without the violently-drunken idiots.

The fixing is harder than the taking it back, the folks behind this  
have lots of experience bringing together small groups (100 - 150) of  
fun, positive, party-minded folks into a good time - but a larger  
group will be out of our control.  THE KEY TO FIXING IT IS YOU:

SO WE'LL NEED YOUR HELP!
1) WEAR A COSTUME!
2) BE POSITIVE AND NICE TO EVERYONE - including the people who aren't  
being positive, nice or in costume :-)
3) Also as a sign you are on board with this plan - WEAR A BIG YELLOW  
SMILEY FACE SOMEWHERE ON YOUR COSTUME (something like a button but  
bigger)......

This is ALL a big experiment - we have no idea how it will turn out -  
but let's try - I think we think it will be AWESOME!
