SOCIAL: FW: I need an iphone

(Ankur, Here is what I sent to Susan. I didn't think everyone would want to
see too, but seems like you and others might like to.)

Additionally, note that I want a phone that I can talk and hear on easily,
and I don't often take pictures with my phone (I have a nice camera). I have
no interest in games. 

I currently have a 'regular' phone running Verizon -- great coverage and
quality. I use an Ipod Touch to play music in my car etc., to show movies
and play games on for my young son on trips, and to check email and browse
when I'm somewhere with wifi (not an enormous priority for me, so I don't
need 3G). 

I'm actually looking into the Droid for my husband, who needs reliable
remote access to email and the Internet much more than I do and also could
use a quick and easy-to-view portable calendar that syncs with his Mac
laptop. The voice activation thing of the Droid is cool, since typing on
these little devices is such a pain. 

If anyone has recommendations regarding the Droid, I'd like to hear them.

AT&T phone service doesn't work in a lot of places (like my house, e.g.), so
I wouldn't recommend it, especially if, like me, your computer runs Windows.


I'm looking into the Droid smart phones, which use Verizon service and run
the Google operating system, Android. Verizon has much better coverage and
quality, and lots of developers are creating apps for the Droid. I don't
know anyone who has one yet. I tried one out briefly in a Verizon store and
it seems to have similar features to an iphone I tried. This one also had
voice recognition for Google search, which is convenient.

Last week, I finally decided to join the 21st century and plan to buy  
an iphone soon. So, there's a fancy new version out there that I am  
intrigued by, though I suspect it is a lot more phone than I need. I  
thought I'd ask folks on this list about it (the good, bad, why the  
version introduced today is better than the previous ones) and also  
see if one of you is planning on upgrading and selling your current  
iphone for a decent price.
