Hello everyone,

Thank you for all your replies!

After some more search on the web, my sense is that (as Amy notes) the Kairos Fdtn and its "more to life" courses are a somewhat smaller version of Landmark. And, as several of you also note, there are positive aspect to going to such courses, but--it seems--only if one is well centered to start with and is able to "fly" on one's own once one has taken the course(s).

My conclusion is that I will decline politely to put those posters up. I don't want to advertise something that I do not fully understand.

Thanks again!
--Elisabeth

My friend ellen went to a landmark forum "free class" that was the first day in a 3 day session. You had to pay a lot to get the other two days, of course.

She did say that there was a lot of value. She only went the first day, and it catalyzed her change incareers to become a radio producer.

She did say that there were definitely very cult-like things that went on, such as the person guarding the door.

Also, IMHO, you should be suspicious of any org that after a day of lectures urges you to act on strong emotions. In fact, the orgs I have trained under (shanti, zen hospice project) encourage you to be introspective due to the volatile nature of the emotions at that point. They actively discouraged their trainees from acting on their emotions at that point.

IMHO, treat with suspicion anyone who treats your life with urgency. Rarely in life are things truly so urgent that contemplation is ill-advised.
