<html><head><style type="text/css"><!-- DIV {margin:0px;} --></style></head><body><div style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size:12pt">For email the Blackberry Curve or Bold would be great. I even like some of the slimmer Windows Mobile devices like the Dash (made by HTC for T-Mobile I think). You can get all those on T-Mobile. And Blackberry *does* have an app store (in imitation of Apple), and many of the smarter business apps are becoming available for Blackberry/RIMOS. Don't buy a G1 (which is the smartphone T-Mobile is currently pushing)--it's not ready for prime time.<br><br>With more features come clumsier user interfaces (with possible exception of iPhone) and shorter battery life. (Big, bright displays also make for short battery life.) Blackberrys are made for email, and RIM has resisted the urge to dump every possible feature into their phones. They're also aware that having too many features can keep a user from bringing a phone
everywhere (such as into a defense contractor's building, or occasionally a locker room).<br><br>Operator coverage is highly location-dependent! There is no such thing as 'good coverage in San Francisco' since every corner of every street is different. You have to take the phone home and to work to figure out if it's going to work for you. (Also, you can poll your neighbors.)<br><br>I like T-Mobile because, of the two cheaper US operators (Sprint and T-Mobile), T-Mobile is the one you can roam the world with. My T-Mo plan costs me <$69 a month, and comes with unlimited data, 1500 voice minutes and 400 texts. T-Mobile is GSM, the world standard, while Sprint uses network technology that you only find in the US. Consider this before you depart for one of the pricier options. And, if you're not going to roam outside the US, then the Palm Pre on Sprint would be good to check out.<br><br>Dave<br><div> </div><font size="1">Dave

<meta http-equiv="x-dns-prefetch-control" content="off">Okay, so my time as lowly serf under the tyranny of the Tmobile feifdom is at a close. Finally. After like 10 years. <div><br></div><div>I've been waiting to invest in a super duper phone til the end of my contract. </div>
<div><br></div><div>I already know what Deep is going to say, but the big question is: </div><div><br></div><div>What kind of smart phone is best? My biggest need at this point is just to have something that I can check email quickly and efficiently on, wherever I'm at. </div>
<div><br></div><div>I'd rather not have something too cumbersome, but that's not an absolute must. It'd be nice to have camera access and all of those good things, but mega loads of storage space isn't a biggie. I am happy having a tiny little iPod that will fit in my bra or whatever, and don't plan on using an iPhone for music or video.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Any suggestions? Complaints? Best customer service stories from a particular company? Worst horror stories? </div><div><br></div><div>all thoughts are welcome on this new journey!</div><div><br></div><div>
paz,</div><div>Sunny</div>
