Dear Friends,<br><br>My good friend (and former roommate!) Jane Kim is running for one of San Francisco's most important elected offices. Jane is running to represent District 6 (SOMA, Inner Mission, TL, TI, etc.) at the Board of Supervisors. <br>
<br>Jane is currently the President of the San Francisco Board of
Education and a civil rights attorney at Lawyers Committee for Civil
Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area. In her grassroots campaign for the
Board of Education, Jane was the highest citywide vote-getter, becoming
the first Korean-American elected official in San Francisco.<br><br>As some of you might know, I am currently working for David Chiu, the President of the SF Board of Supervisors, so Jane's race is important to me for many reasons. (I could work down the hall from her! :) More importantly, I know from living with Jane, as well as working with her on other projects and campaigns, that she has the leadership, progressive values, and skills to be a great legislator and advocate for her district & all SF residents.<br>
<br>Tomorrow (Thursday 6/24) from 6-9pm is Jane's kickoff event at 11 Minna. I am one of the event co-hosts, so it would me an a lot to me to see many of you there. Come hang out, meet Jane and hear first hand from her and others why she's the right person for the job. There is no entry fee, so if you don't have any money to contribute,
don't worry! It's enough to come, and learn about the issues and her
ideas.<br><br>Even if you are not someone who usually goes to political events, what happens in District 6 is extremely important to those involved in arts, culture and entertainment in SF, which so many of you are. Also, District 6 is also one of the most rapidly changing and dynamic districts in the City, and what happens there has strong ripple effects that impact us all. <br>
