If we took this to the voters it would win, but it would be a waste of time.

What happened last time was that voters were asked to vote on two 
initiatives, one for immediate Saturday closure  (Prop F), and for an 
alternative that would have supported Saturday closure once the 
garage is in place (Prop G).

Like most people who supported immediate Saturday closure, I voted 
Yes on F and No on G, as the campaign asked me to. Many other people 
voted No on F and Yes on G. I surmise (though we can never know 
because we couldn't afford the polling to confirm it and David Binder 
wouldn't donate it), that together, the 'yes' votes for Saturday 
closure either immediately or after the garage is open represented a 
strong majority of voters.
