SOCIAL: credit card

Hi Palak...

I have a Defenders of Wildlife credit card from Bank of America. I like this card for many reasons: 1) It has a low APR on purchases (7.99%) which may or may not have to do with my personal credit score; 2) they donate 2 cents for every $10 I spend to Defenders of Wildlife, which I had supported anyway; 3) and in the past I have been offered very fair balance transfer offers from them with 0% interest for a limited time. 

FYI--if you ever decide to do a balance transfer on a credit card, DO NOT use that same credit card for any purchases until you pay off the entire balance you transferred. The credit card company will deduct your payments from the portion of your balance with the lowest interest (say, on the balance transfer amount) rate only while continuing to charge you the higher interest rate for the rest. Does that make sense? It makes sense in my head, but that doesn't mean much. Anyway, a nice customer service rep at a credit card company explained that to me on the phone one day.
