Attorneys & Law Students: VOTERS NEED YOUR HELP!

Please sign up to protect votes at: my.barackobama.com/counselforchange

Please find below information about the Voter Protection program for
the Barack Obama Presidential campaign. Through this program, lawyers
and law students sign-up to protect votes on Election Day or earlier
in states with early voting. The campaign would like to have a legal
team in place to prevent voting irregularities. Your legal expertise
makes you indispensable to the voter protection initiative. In all
cases, you will be fully trained ahead of time and supported by a
hotline of experienced election lawyers in-state.

This program is extremely important as we need to ensure that EVERY
vote counts! There are many battleground states this year where the
election may be close. Remember, in 2000, Vice President Al Gore lost
Florida by only 537 votes (and 25 electoral votes). And in 2004,
Senator John Kerry lost New Mexico by only 5,988 votes.

Here is how you can get involved:

· Monitor Polls on Election Day!
o Volunteer to safeguard voting rights of Californians. The
campaign has developed an in-state voter protection structure to
promptly identify and eliminate any barriers to voting, whether cased
by misinformation, ballot shortages or other issues.

o Travel to a battleground state, such as Ohio or Nevada.
Volunteers will be placed at polling sites in critical locations.
Volunteers should plan to arrive on November 3 for training and plan
to leave on November 5 or later. To sign up for Ohio, which has a
desperate need for a 1000 more lawyers, go to: http://oh.barackobama.com/page/s/ohvolunteerlaw

· Monitor Polls during Early Voting! Please consider
committing to volunteer for at least two days as a poll monitor during
a state's early voting period. Poll monitors are especially needed on
weekdays. On the sign-up webpage, please indicate in the "Notes"
section the specific dates you will be available to volunteer.

· Help us Do Attorney-to-Attorney Recruiting!

o Please send the sign-up information to your friends and colleagues
who may be interested. Talk to all the lawyers and law students you
know about getting involved!

o We especially need help assisting with our lawyer-to-lawyer phone
banking effort. We have had lawyers in CA calling lawyers in swing
states and asking the swing state lawyers to volunteer on Election Day
in their home state. This effort has really been quite successful and
we are now getting lots of requests for help. It’s a great way to
make a contribution to the national effort and it only takes an hour
or two. People interested in phone banking should send an email to obamacalawyertolawyerphonebank at gmail.com
.

Training. In all cases, you will be fully trained and supported by a
team of experienced election law attorneys. Two hour training
sessions will occur in several California cities in coming week or in
a battleground state.

We look forward to engaging your skills and talents. You are what
makes the Voter Protection program possible. We hope you will join
the Voter Protection program and encourage your friends and colleagues
to do the same. Please sign up to protect votes at:
