Hi Socialites,

First, I want to correct an error in my first message: the date is Sat June 26 (not June 16).

The details again:

What: Tech-Free Day picnic and Making Dinner show
When: Sat, June 26, 4-7pm
Where: MacLaren Park, picnic area across street from Jerry Garcia Amphitheater (see below)
Making Dinner will play at 5:00!

Second, here is the location:

The picnic on Tech-free Day will be located in McLaren Park, across John F. Shelley Drive from the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater. Basically, park in the main parking lot for the amphitheater, cross the street, and you're there! If you are looking at a map of McLaren park, we are the picnic area closest to the McLaren Park clubhouse, between the three tennis courts and the Riparian Association.  http://www.johnmclarenpark.org/map-large.html

Hi folks!

A friend of mine is hosting an event called Tech-Free day on Saturday, June 26. (See http://www.techfreeday.org/ for info, and yes, she's aware of the irony of having a blog about going "tech-free"). The goal is to build community by unplugging yourself from your cell phone, laptop, etc. for 24 hours periodically (I think she does it once a month) and focusing on the people in the physical space around you.

She is sponsoring a picnic for this month's Tech-Free day, and my band, Making Dinner (http://makingdinnertheband.com/), will be playing an acoustic set at the picnic. The picnic is from 4-7pm, and we're playing at 5:00.  She's trying to make this as big of an event as it can be (even has sponsorship from BiRite and Good Vibrations), so please come and bring all your friends to build community with!

Which brings me to the second part of my email. We will be playing unplugged and my instrument in the band is an electric bass. Does anyone have any ideas for where I can borrow either an acoustic bass guitar (1st preference) or a stand-up bass?  Any leads would be greatly appreciated!!!
