Subject: The Department of Elections encourages you to “Go Green”. You may choose to access your Voter Information Pamphlet online instead of receiving it in the mail

The Department of Elections encourages you to "Go Green". Opt out of receiving your Voter Information Pamphlet and Sample Ballot by mail!
Dear Voter,

We are writing to let you know that with the recent changes to state and municipal laws, you can now opt out of receiving a paper version of your Voter Information Pamphlet and Sample Ballot in the mail, if you have not already done so. Instead, you can access it on the Department of Elections' website, www.sfelections.org, approximately 40 days prior to every election.

If you wish to stop mail delivery of your Voter Information Pamphlet and Sample Ballot, you may complete the online Voter Information Pamphlet and Sample Ballot Opt Out/Opt In form at least 50 days prior to an election for it to go into effect for that election.

To opt out of receiving these materials by mail for the June 5, 2012 election and all future elections, we must receive your completed form no later than April 16, 2012. If the request is received after this date, the change will take effect for the next election.

Voters who decide that they prefer to receive a paper version of their Voter Information Pamphlet and Sample Ballot after they have signed up to "go green" can revert to the paper version at any time by using the online form.

Did you know that June 5, 2012 election will be the first statewide election conducted under the new open primary election system? For more information, visit our website or call (415) 554-4375.
