For those of you who know me (and those of you who don't!), this is what
I've been up to the last few weeks out here in San Francisco. I know
this performance is a bit early in the day for those of you with jobs
not in Berkeley-but if you can come and need more information, let me
know! Gretchen ('Deep's sometime roommate)
Making Theater Presentation: Readers Theater in a Medical Context
March 9, 4pm
Durham Studio Theater
Admission is free
Clinical Professor Guy Micco, M.D. (Co-Director of the UCB Center for
Medicine, the Humanities and Law, and Director of the UCB Center on
Aging) and Gretchen Case, PhD (Performance Studies) will discuss using
theatrical techniques to connect medical students to their local
communities, and will demonstrate those techniques with a cast of UCB
grad and advanced undergrad students from the Joint Medical Program,
TDPS, and the School of Optometry, and residents of the Salem Lutheran
Retirement Community in Oakland. Performances will include a selection
of Cicero's "de Senectute" (An Essay on Old Age) adapted into a
conversation between older and younger performers and a selection of
poems that raise issues surrounding age and aging.
Presented by the UC Berkeley Department of Theater, Dance, and
Performance Studies, with support from Consortium for the Arts, UCB
Center on Aging, and the UCB Center for Medicine, the Humanities, and
Law. For more information, visit: http://theater.berkeley.edu
